Ensemble doudouči is an international octet which can be characterised by immersive acoustic sound coming from its instrumentation: two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, two pianos, bass, percussions and double bass. I have started this band in 2021 together with creative musicians circulating around Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. The music of the ensemble is informed by contemporary music for percussion, minimalism and free jazz energy. It is also determined by relatively open scores, often circulating around cyclical and durational events with a trance-like meditative quality, focusing on collective sound. The result is a multilayered sonicscape representing a non-hierarchical partnership.
Simon Forchhammer (DK) – drums
Francesco Toninelli (IT) – objects
Rafał Różalski (PL) – double bass
Gintė Preisaitė (LT) – piano
Margaux Oswald (CH) – piano
Michał Biel (PL) – baritone saxophone
Calum Builder (AU) – alto saxophone
Michaela Turcerová (SK) – alto saxophone, composition
The band has released its first eponymous EP on CRRNT Records in November 2022 on physical post cards.
